Take a leaf from Technology's book.

Have you been a victim of STALENESS?

The central thread of Omega.exe movie originates from a software engineer's staleness. In other words, the movie's "inciting incident" is one of its IT professional's staleness and how he chooses to fight it!

During the discussion phase of the story/script, I have been checking with folks from various walks of life whether they were aware of this state of staleness. Many were not, to the desired degree that would help them fight it.

Omega is the result of a strong will and desire to fight staleness - that of the victim himself, and his two buddies in the movie. Now, the way they choose to fight it has cinematic elements of exaggerated risk and courage, but the underlying message is very clear - DO SOMETHING THAT REALLY EXCITES YOU! The protagonist says (in Malayalam), "ninne thrasippikkunna enthengilum nee cheyyuka!"

Software programmers write efficient code to fight staleness of network connections, saving critical System resources. It's a little strange that many of them are not even aware of the staleness of their own lives, and that they live with extremely low levels of SPIRIT (the most critical system resource of humans!). Now, it's time to take a leaf from Technology's book!

Omega will not execute? OMG!! :) :)

The website by matineebeats reports the movie's name as "Omega Dont Exe"! I'm amused! :)

The unusual name (and theme) of this movie has attracted many comments, and a few innocent jokes. One comment (and a compliment) on the name is "quirky but cool", which is by Deccan Chronicle. On the naive jokes line, here's one:

During the shoot phase of the movie, a film weekly representative visited us to prepare a write-up on the movie. We talked for a brief time, and when he left us, he was beaming with confidence. He remarked, "this is a very good thread that's very fresh, interesting & original"! I was happy to hear such an encouraging feedback.

After about two weeks, the weekly reported my story. It was indeed interesting! The core of the story is a "machine", rather than "mission"!

  • To acquit the innocent and punish the culprits, the team of Software Engineers invent a "machine".
  • Avinash, the protagonist, arrives from Bangalore to prepare the "machine". He has high expertise in making/manufacturing such "machines".
  • How the team uses this "machine" to trap the actual culprits form the interesting plot of the movie.

I left the highly-advanced version as is, for various reasons. Like one of my friends commented, "Now you call that interesting! The readers of this article must be googling now to check the availability of such machines - technology can do anything these days!"

I have been careful in my narrations/briefing since then, to ward off these "twists and turns" that are outside the movie!

Here's an English song that was originally written for the climax build-up of the movie Omega.exe: (due to technical reasons, the song idea was dropped in the execution phase)

[I have taken a few quotes of the great writer Paulo Coelho, to pen this song]

Rise 'n shine dear, your day has arrived
All is fine dear, your toil has ended
Gone is the darkest hour of the night, and its fangs
Here is the virgin rays of the dawn, and its songs
Come, sit with me, and awaken to the morning melody!

I made the whole world conspire
 - To help you achieve what you wanted
I made the sweetest nectar of love
 - To melt the hardest pangs of your sorrows
Come, stay with me, and sip from your share of peace!

In your eyes, shines the strength of your soul
In your heart, dwells the adventurer, hunting treasures
In your will, lives the refusal to be a victim of your world
To rise fall after fall is the key to victory, you always knew
To let go all that you have is coming home to me, my child!
Come, be with me, and watch me fight your toughest battle!
